Today was my first time opening with Tellus, For Tellus the gem panning and fossil dig is reserved for field trips for safety and crowding reasons, it was so much fun helping an actual class learn about science.

My first day at Tellus went great, I got introduced to the museum and the volunteers then started helping at the Gem panning. Gem panning is where you discover little rocks and gems under sand and water having to excavate and dig through to find the gems you like and got to keep. It was so fun seeing all the kids and adults discovering the several types of rocks and learning about science in such a fun way. My job was to help anyone who entered the Gem panning and get them started, teaching them how to gem pan. My main focus was to moderator and make sure nothing got too crazy. Great first day cannot wait for more!
